Google recently announced that they will be releasing a standalone Google Assistant application for your iPhone , iPod or iPad.
This means that users will be able to chat with Google and gain access to all of its cool features without needing a Android smartphone. You won’t be able to replace Siri with Google Assistant, but you’ll be able to use the feature in Google’s dedicated app.
Users will be able to open up the Google App, press the voice button, and speak to the Assistant. Some people might just say the assistant is better than the current state of Siri. It lets you ask more complicated queries and it has third-party integrations, not to forget you can schedule appointments and soon you’ll also be able to add reminders.
It’s most likely that the Assistant on iOS will be more limited than it is on Android. It is also nice to see that google are bringing their AI to other platforms, so we might see an Amazon Alexa app very soon.
“Whether you’re at home or on the go, your Assistant is ready to help. The Assistant on iOS is available on version 9.1+.” – Google
Google Assistant will be gaining new features including a lot of chatting abilities and the camera’s ability to identify what a user is looking at, such as the species of a flower, or connecting to a Wi-Fi network by taking a picture of a sticker on a router.Pretty cool.
You can download Google Assistant right here from the App Store, US Only. Its pretty sad that the app is not available in the UK, so if you wanted to download the app to try, you would have to change the country of your app store
