A new year a new version of Android, this time Android O. Google recently showed us the OS at Google I/O 2017, the company’s annual developer conference.
Whats new in Android O?
The next version of Android will officially launch around October, but users can get a taste of the newest features early, however some might not work as Google expect. Google says Android O will keep your phone healthy, maximise performance and battery life, speed up start-up time and keep it secure.
The Company have said it has already done a lot of work to make the OS and apps run more smoother, nevertheless they are working on app optimisation to make things better.A clever new feature for extending battery life is ‘wise limits’, which will restrict the activity of apps running in the background.
Something else that should help make your device run better is the new Play Console Dashboard for developers. That helps developers figure out where battery drain, crashes and slow UI issues occur, and takes them to the exact line of problematic code, providing guidance on the best way to fix it.
The Android O beta is available to download from today and will be available for everyone later this year.
You can download system images for a range of hardware devices that you can use for testing your app, from phones to tablets and TV. To get started with Android O, download a system image and flash it to your device.
